![]() ![]() The components are external instead of inside a casing making them easy to repair if needed. Beneath the casing are the electronic components such as the switches and motor. ![]() It might sound weird but three rubber legs are actually more stable than four because of the balance, therefore the base is more noise isolating than other models. The casing is made from one piece and it is supported by three legs. Therefore, it lifts the quality of this turntable tremendously and makes it a worthwhile upgrade from almost any beginner turntable. The needle and cartridge are the source of sound itself, meaning that it sets the standard for the sound quality. I can’t stress enough how important having such a great cartridge is. It is detailed and offers some great bass. It now features a really good cartridge in the form of the Ortofan OM5e, a very neutral cartridge and therefore suited for almost all musical genres. In terms of the materials used the Orbit Plus has some nice upgrades compared to the more basic U-Turn Orbit. U-Turn excels in design in a way that makes design a more important factor when buying a turntable. Not a black box that you likely want to keep out of sight but rather something that sparks conversations and you really want to use every time you see it. It is a simple design and at the same time an eccentric piece that can be the main showpiece in any living room. What U-Turn really excels in is thinking about how the turntable is going to fit into your interior. The Orbit Plus for me is an exception, as it comes in a lot of different colors and has one of the best looking designs that are out there. While the design is often the least important factor according to audiophiles when considering buying a turntable. ![]()
